DRAGON NEST

For ten thousand years, a hidden realm of elves has patiently waited for the dawn of a new Age. When the vile Tou Chin organization threatened their well-laid plans, the Elvish High Council resorted to the most desperate of measures - entrusting one of their few remaining eggs to an unexpected caretaker. With him, it waited, hidden for decades.

Following the sudden death of the father he barely knew, Detective Caleb Austin of the Atlanta police department unknowingly bonds with the egg, which thrusts him into the elvish world. Cut off from his friends and family, Caleb struggles to understand his budding connection to a creature he never knew existed in our modern times.

But the elves struggle, too. No human has ever been chosen. Can one even withstand the bonding process? Or will the power of his dragon be more than Caleb can survive?

WHAT OUR READERS SAY...
Can’t wait for the next book!  - DizWiz

Fantasy books and dragons aren't normally in my wheelhouse. However, when I first started reading this, it pulled me in because the characters are engaging and relatable. It's a modern-day story, and in this first book of the trilogy (?-maybe more?), there is a ton of background about the elves and dragons that set up the story to come in future books. But, I don't mean to make it sound like the story is boring; rather, the story is very interesting and there is a lot of anticipation about what's to come next. Mr. Daffron has done a wonderful job for his first novel.

If there is a book you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.

Behind The Story

That's how it started. That Toni Morrison quote right up there.

My thumb pressed into my temple as I stood, and I tossed my Kindle on the sofa.

“Everything all right?” Denise said, a small grin starting.

“I can’t find anything to read.”

“OK. What are you looking for?”

“Something new. Different, I guess.”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know. Something with dragons that are intelligent and magical, not just fire-breathing monsters. Something with elves and magic. But modern, you know? They exist today, right here in our world, but we can’t see them.”

Denise laughed and went back to her book. “Uh, yeah… if you want to read something like that, you’re gonna have to write it, babe.”

So, I did…
